I bought my first tube of red lipstick (L’oreal Rouge Pulp in “Carnage” mainly purchased for the name) when I was sixteen, buried in my shopping basket and hustled into my purse before my mother saw and only applied once at school. I wore no other makeup at the time, so my routine was easy enough: lean into the scarcely lit bathroom mirror and apply liberally. Carnage made me feel unstoppable in a time where I had little courage to do anything but apply lipstick to stand out a bit, but unfortunately, it was discontinued years ago and I have been on the hunt for an equivalent since then.
I have never used any MAC product in the past, but after my friend got married last month and was gifted an amazing red color from the makeup artists, I sought out the same color, but it was also discontinued. I happened upon MAC’s Russian Red, a scarily pigmented bluish-red that looks amazing when applied in full force or as a stain, and while it is no carnage, when I wear it, I feel fierce enough to inflict some.
i am so in love with this illustration!

There is just something so magical about makeup.
